This green smoothie is a bit unique because it has an ingredient most people like but have not thought about putting it in a blender.  Yes, it is an avocado.  And to answer the popular question, yes an avocado is a fruit.

Below are the ingredients I used to make this simple, delicious and very nutritious smoothie.  The only problem is that is was so good, I forgot to take a picture of the way it looks after it is blended together.  Doh!

Ingredients:
- 3 ounces of Unsweetened Almond Milk
- 5 ounces of filtered water
- handful of kale
- handful of baby spinach
- 2 tbsps of flax seed
- 1 tbsp of hemp seed
- 1 tsp of cinnamon
- 1 tsp of Glutamine
- 2 tbsps of plant based protein
- 2 plums (or your choice of fruit)
- 1 full avocado (you could do half)
- 1 banana
- 3 chunks of pineapple
- Ice
- 2 tbsps of chia seed right before I turn off the blender

From top to bottom is the way I put the ingredients in the blender.  I always start in the low setting and slowly move up to the highest one.  At times I will add a bit more water to help it blend quicker and smoother.

Why an Avocado?

Here are the benefits that are listed in Wikipedia:
-----------------------------------------------
Avocados have diverse fats.[37] For a typical avocado:
High avocado intake was shown in one preliminary study to lower blood cholesterol levels. Specifically, after a seven-day diet rich in avocados, mild hypercholesterolemia patients showed a 17% decrease in total serum cholesterol levels. These subjects also showed a 22% decrease in both LDL (harmful cholesterol) and triglyceride levels and 11% increase in HDL (helpful cholesterol) levels.[40] A 2013 epidemiological report showed that American avocado consumers had better overall diet quality, nutrient levels, and reduced risk of metabolic syndrome.[41]
----------------------------------------------

Now you can see why I have added avocados to smoothies.

Go ahead and go outside the box when making your next smoothie and put in a avocado!  You will not be disappointed and you will have produced another F2FF nutritious smoothie.

Now this is something you can not do in a juicer. ;-)

  1. Thanks for this! I've been saving a lot of great smoothies that's good for the body and with no sugar added. Ever since I lost weight in the 3 day military diet, I was eating more whole food and watching what I put in my mouth. It also helps that I'm drinking tons of water and staying away from sugar, which I also learned from the military diet. With my fitness buddy, we do a lot of exercising nowadays and looking for ways to cook healthy and stay away from fast food. For more of the diet see http://3daysmilitarydiet.com/diet-plan/vegetarian-military-diet.html
