Right now, I am down to the last few days before my second marathon which will be the ING Miami Marathon that takes place on January 27, 2013.  A lot of time was put into the training for this race, but it was required if I wanted give myself every chance possible to meeting my goal.

For a race, typically you download a plan and you follow it as much as possible to ensure you are prepared to reach your goal for that race.  However, what is more important is during the training weeks is that you learn how much you truly are capable of if you have a goal and a plan in place.

In part1, I provided 4 actions I took that paved a path for me to lose 150+ lbs.  The entire list (now with what is included below) is not in any type of ranked order but this is what I believe assisted make me lose a lot of weight within a short period of time.  Remember, it was no special diet, no magic diet pill and no surgery.  It was through re-training the mind, hard work and discipline.  Yes, of course it was more than 9 items that got me to where I am today.  However, I decided to keep the list to 9, but I did add a few miscellaneous new habits at the end of the list that I believe did have an impact on my results.

EDIT: My new book about life after weight loss has been released.  http://amzn.to/1w6v7uP

Please remember this is just for the fun of it and YOU are choosing what you want to do.  I got inspired to implement this challenge with the people following me on my Facebook page and this website due to the video below that I came across last week.

Basically the purpose of the challenge is for you to add something to your life or remove a bad habit for 30 days (or 1 calendar month).  Try something new, shake up your life or get out of your comfort zone is the main concept.

The picture summarizes what my thoughts were one day, but of course the weight didn't just melt off after that, it took work.  What started the journey was the DECISION to make a lifestyle change which entailed a major diet change and adding exercise to my life.  I also had to STOP making excuses.  If you keep making excuses, the list below and any type of inspirational quote will never help you get to where you want to go.

The purpose of the list is to illustrate what actions I took that assisted me lose my weight.  People always ask me, "how did you do it?".  So I figured I might as well document "how" I did it and I am hoping that 1 or 2 things will help someone with their weight loss journey.

Comfort zone is easy.  When is a person in a comfort zone?  It is when they are not being pushed or challenged.  When they are simply existing in life.  It is coasting through life.  Are you one of these people?  Are you making the most out of your life?  In the past, my daily diet comfort zone was stopping at a fast food restaurant on the way to work, bad snack and a soda mid morning, a BIG lunch, more bad snacks to get me through the afternoon and then eating a BIG dinner.  After dinner, I just would lounge around and watch TV and eventually call it a day after some ice cream and/or cookies.  That was life to me and it was easy.  Not a thought of exercise entered my head.  (Looking back at it now, it seems like it would be difficult to eat that bad, that much and for that many years.  How did I do that?)
