This green smoothie is a bit unique because it has an ingredient most people like but have not thought about putting it in a blender.  Yes, it is an avocado.  And to answer the popular question, yes an avocado is a fruit.

Below are the ingredients I used to make this simple, delicious and very nutritious smoothie.  The only problem is that is was so good, I forgot to take a picture of the way it looks after it is blended together.  Doh!

How do you get through a long cardio workout?  What do you think about when you run for 1-2 hours?  Those are type of questions I have received in the past.  During long sessions, some people listen to their favorite music.  Others will listen to audio books and some runners, like myself, will do podcasts. Then there are some crazy folks who listen to the birds chirping while running outdoors. :)

Monday Motivation - October 28th, 2013

If you are surrounded by people who are negative, you will continue to have negative thoughts.  The negative energy will wipe away any type of motivation or desire you have to lose weight, become more fit and/or accomplish what you are striving for. 

Surround yourself with greatness in various ways to your life and you will soon realize how great you can be.  You have no one in your life who is great?  Follow the positive influences on Facebook, Twitter or Google+.  Don't want to "un-friend" them because of the drama it will cause? Then simply hide their posts from showing up on your wall or stream.

You can also read books about great people, you can listen to interviews on podcasts, watch videos on Youtube, etc.  Use your local library as a resource for books and audio books.  Don't use the people in your life as an excuse.

If you can find a way to get rid of those people from your life, then do it.  If they are someone close to you, then replace them with people you admire like mentioned above.  Don't let anyone bring you down to their level.


Weekend Training Recap - Ep 1 

I have added something new to my blog.  At the very bottom there are two quick audio clips of me babbling about my training.  Please let me know if you have any issues on your internet browser, mobile device, etc or any other type of feedback (i.e, you want to hear more, you want to hear less of me, etc.).  Of course I hope to improve on the way I talk during these sessions.  Everything I did for this, I was using free resources, so I apologize for any problems.

Hopefully, if the website brings in some additional finance resources in the future I can make it a bit more professional.  My goal would be that if I make more recordings, I will touch on other topics and hopefully interview other people about their goals and their fitness struggles and accomplishments

Note: I did have to do both recordings in the car, so I do apologize for the background noise.

Red Smoothie?  That's right not all healthy smoothies have to be green.  The taste of this red drink is unbelievable.  I have had it a few times this past week and I am overwhelmed how easy it goes down.

Happy Monday!  Yes, it's Monday but you need to find a way to make the most of it.  If you are lucky enough to be alive, have a job, family and/or home, etc, appreciate it.  Everything may not be perfect in your life.  You may be fighting an uphill battle, but keep going.

Yes, you will go through some hard times when you make a hard choice and it may feel like it will never end, but every hill has an end!

Over the last two weeks I lost 9 lbs and I am at my lowest weight since June and I am eating more than ever and I am not counting any calories.  I have not increased my exercise time.  So how did I do it?  I simply improved my eating habits even more than what they were previously.  However, I am eating a LOT of food and eating until I am full.

The GreenLow Smoothie


This delicious smoothie was constructed mainly with yellow and green natural ingredients.  This is a very nutritious smoothie.  Almost everything in this drink is made with real food, so can be considered clean eating.  I drank this a couple of times this week as my breakfast and I felt full for 2-3 hours.  Keep in mind this is a low fat, high fiber and high carb drink.  If you want to add fat to this drink feel free to add a tablespoon of coconut oil, almond or peanut butter.
