Based on what I hear and read, the current generation and the younger ones want everything handed to them.  Everyone wants the easy life.  Everyone wants the quick fix to their problems including weight loss.  Seems like no one wants to work hard for what they truly want (lose weight).

Over the last week I have been able to use a Blendtec blender.  The one I received was a recertified Designer Series Blendtec blender.  As many of you know I have been using the Vitamix blender over the last year or so and I use it to make smoothies on a daily basis (up to 3x per day).

Some of the reasons I never thought I would get into cycling was because it was boring, couldn't consistently raise my heart rate for long periods of time and what would I do during the long winters in Chicago.  Well one of the items I bought to deal with the heart rate and long winters was a cycle/bike trainer.  I hooked my road bike to it and my workouts have not been the same since then.  I fell in love with cycling.

Then one day a Google Plus friend told me about companies like Ride Fit that would help tackle my boredom issue. With Ride Fit you can buy cycling videos then download to view them from your iPad or laptop while cycling.  For some of the workouts they also have the option to purchase the DVDs.

At first I was like "yeah okay so I can watch a scenic video, big deal".  It was not that at all, I was totally wrong.  These videos take you through all type of workouts.  I mean Ride Fit has come up with some real good variety of workouts for all levels.  These are cardio workouts that I had never been close to doing while running...ever.  Maybe some of those speed day workouts, but for some reason for the majority of these videos I am sweating quite a bit and digging hard to stay in my aerobic zone.

In these cycling videos, Ride Fit has produced some of the most realistic virtual workouts possible.  The videos start off with a light warmup.  They then explain what the numbers on the dashboard mean. As the real part of the workout gets going it will show you when to increase and decrease the intensity.  Trying to follow the level of intensity is what is key to the workout.  You have to make sure you are putting in a good effort in order to get the most from your workout time.  The length of videos vary from just over 30 minutes to 90 minutes.  I haven't found a boring one yet, but if you only buy one for now, you obviously can always go back for more later.

As I told someone the other day, I have seriously missed out on some fun during the last couple of years while concentrating only on running.  FYI, there are some videos also to be used while elliptical training.

Here are some key highlights that Gary Hawkins shared with me about Ride Fit  and the great virtual indoor cycling videos .

Making exercise enjoyable, entertaining and goal orientated is essential to keep people coming back for more.  Ride Fit™, an exciting series of live-action workout videos provides just such an environment for two of the best types of cardio workouts available – indoor cycling (a.k.a. spinning) and elliptical training

To provide the most realistic virtual workout experience possible, Ride Fit™ videos are shot from the first person perspective using bike-mounted video cameras.  Users will experience, as closely as can be achieved in an indoor environment, actually being there on the road.

Ride Fit™ currently offers thirteen exciting live-action training videos featuring:
  • Beginners through Advanced workouts in the style of "continuous ride" and "interval training";
  • Two of our titles are dual purpose indoor cycling / elliptical training videos. We believe these videos are the only live-action elliptical training videos currently available;
  • Suitable for any media device. We offer downloadable .mp4 video files for watching on your computer/iPad/tablet/iPhone/PS3, etc., and DVD's for DVD based systems;
  • Watch our videos at home, in the gym or at the hotel fitness center if you’re away on business;
  • A simple overlaid digital dashboard that provides target cadence (between 55 - 105rpm), resistance (six levels from light through intense) and exertion typically displayed in ten increments;
  • Our training videos last from approximately 30 to 90 minutes and will burn between 250 to 800 calories.  Ideal for time-crunched workouts and serious training sessions;
  • Two versions of every workout, one with music and one without so you can listen to our music track or something else you wish to play in the background;
  • Individual prices starting at just $7.99 for downloads.  DVDs start from $17.99.
  • We offer a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee.
Also available to all that visit our site is the Ride Fit™ Training Guide.  This comprehensive 43-page indoor cycle training guide is available to all via our website – please feel free to download a copy for review. When a customer purchases our product they are directed towards this guide so they get the most from their Ride Fit™ purchase.

 Ride Fit has Trailer videos for all of the products to be viewed.

If you are a new or an experienced cyclist I highly recommend these videos.  I live in the Midwest and the winters are long so I know cardio sessions can become boring. However, now that I have a cycle trainer, Ride Fit videos to mix up with my running treadmill sessions, it is going to make the winters a tad more tolerable.

I also know that I am glad that I had an open mind and was willing to bring cycling into my world because I know I have become an overall better athlete.

How to lose weight?  How do I lose weight?  What can I do for weight loss?  Common questions from all different people.  In two posts last year I shared how I lost over 150 lbs to document my successful natural weight loss story (no diet pills or surgery).  The first thing I mentioned in how I did that was I ate breakfast at home.  How did this help?  Because I used to pick up fast food on the way to work.  Those were wasted and unhealthy calories to start the day.eggs are very good for you

blendtec sale

Blendtec?  Yes, Blendtec.  As you all know I am a huge smoothie drinker to recover from my runs and cycling sessions.  I have been using my Vitamix blender since the middle of last year. I still use it daily, if not 2-3 times during certain days of the week.

However, Blendtec (their competitor) reached out to me to become an affiliate of theirs and we have agreed that we will offer their high end blender on my website also.  I wanted to provide the best two blender options on this website since I believe smoothies are a great way to easily add healthy food to your daily food intake.

Until recently, I had always used wired over the ear headphones while running, cycling, working out, on the train and walking to work.  They have become a hassle because the wires get tangled and in the way.  However, these have always felt the most comfortable, cheapest to replace and were great for all my runs.  However, as I heard more and more people talk about Bluetooth headphones, I figured I would finally buy a pair to try, if the price was right.

After looking at a bunch of reviews and keeping an affordable price in mind, I decided to go with the Kinivo BTH240 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones on Amazon.

For the month of January, most of the reconditioned Vitamix Blenders are on sale.  Plus as usual, if you place your order through this website you will receive FREE SHIPPING by clicking the banner on the right.

EDIT: Sale is through February.

The discounted prices can be viewed once you get to the page or in the 2nd image below.  To learn how to get to the "Certified Reconditioned Series", please see pictures below and click on the Vitamix image on the right side of this website (pssst, over there---->) to look around and/or place your order.

If you know anything about me, you know I am a big supporter of smoothies.  I have all the ones most people can buy at box stores, but I just wasted my money.  Once you own a high end blender like Vitamix, you will never need another one, especially since this comes with a long warranty.

2014 Theme

Happy New Year!  It's 2014 now and I am challenging everyone to make it a great year.  Find a way to make it your best one ever.  I have listed my goals below, but I would also like people to read a post I wrote last year that I hope some people will find helpful when trying to determine and reach their new year's resolutions/goals.

Remember to know WHY you have the goal.  Don't just list a goal, you have to know WHY you are doing it.  Also make sure you have a plan/schedule to ensure you will find a way for it to happen this year.
